Continuing its omnichannel expansion in India’s southern belt, The Sleep Company, Asian pioneers of SmartGRID mattresses and advocates of the comfort-tech movement in India and Asia, have opened their first store in Kondapur, Hyderabad.
Inaugurated by co-founders Harshil Salot and Priyanka Salot, this store further cements its vision to permeate the Indian retail market with over 25 stores across the country over the next six months.
With a design that showcases the unique grid structure of the brand’s patented SmartGRID technology, this offline foray expands the reach and accessibility of The Sleep Company’s breakthrough innovations to a wider audience. The Hyderabad store will serve as an important experiential touchpoint for customers, adding a much-needed tactile element to the D2C brand’s extensive online presence. The company-owned and operated (COCO) store will operate on a phygital (omnichannel) model, allowing customers to cash in and carry small store products while ordering SmartGRID mattresses online for delivery to their doorstep.
Since its inception in 2019, The Sleep Company has taken a customer-centric approach. All products are developed with the aim of improving the lives of their customers, which is evident in their designs, be it their mattresses, pillows or even their chairs, all of which are developed in their SmartGRID design. Leading the comfort-tech movement in the subcontinent, the D2C brand is aggressively advancing by opening physical stores to ensure lasting comfort.
Harshil Salot, co-founder of The Sleep Company, said: “We are thrilled to have reached this stage, what started out as e-commerce or a digital native brand now sees a physical structure. The omnichannel customer experience that is the future of retail has always been the goal and seeing it come to life is truly rewarding. The last two years have been incredibly successful, we have achieved 4X growth, and the role of Hyderabad and the South Indian market in sustaining this growth will be key to achieving our revenue projection of Rs 500 crore over the two coming years. Currently, 40-45% of our business comes from this region, and we are all excited to be able to expand our presence.”
Additionally, Priyanka Salot, co-founder of The Sleep Company, said, “High-priced mattresses, furniture and home decor are sectors that still have a preference for offline shopping, as the purchase decision is highly dependent on a tactile element. With something as unique as our SmartGRID technology, the natural next step was to implement multiple consumer touch points. We are delighted to see our Hyderabad store come to life as it is the second largest city in terms of sales, making it one of our key markets from a strategic growth perspective. Moving to a high-tech area like Kondapur is the icing on the cake; seeing how The Sleep Company is revolutionizing comfort technology, we look forward to immersing ourselves and contributing to the tech ethic around us..”
In just over two years, The Sleep Company has taken it step by step; to become one of the most loved brands in the digital market at a turnover of Rs 100 crore. With this expansion, The Sleep company is writing its next chapter not only about India, but about Asia’s comfort tech disruptor, revolutionizing the way people sleep and sit.
