Durham’s e-bike shop is for sale – Business

The opportunity to buy a specialist e-bike retailer has arisen in the North East of England.

The Durham City e-bike shop on Front Street not far from the city center is on the market as the current owner plans to retire.

Company owner Simon said: “I saw the potential of e-bikes in 2008 and have ensured that we have stayed ahead of the crowd in terms of brands and technology ever since. We are now stockists of some of the best brands in the e-bike market, including Kalkhoff, Focus, Riese & Muller and Bergamont, among others. Over the past few years we have supplied e-bikes to the local police, Durham University and also some bikes to the local county council.

“We offer a local delivery service with our own van and provide e-bikes as far away as Northumberland to North Yorkshire. Customers appreciate the service we provide and we receive many referrals and repeat customers.

“I am considering retiring for health reasons, but would like to see the business continue to grow under a new owner. I am happy to support during a transfer period if needed.

“The store has a good location with excellent parking facilities outside. A new lease is available for the new owner.

The sale will include all fixtures, fittings and workshop equipment, and the store’s turnover was around £500,000 last year, according to the owner.
