3 shot dead in Henry County warehouse, police say – WSB-TV Channel 2

MCDONOUGH – Three people were fatally shot in a Henry County warehouse on Thursday afternoon, police said

Henry County Police said they responded to reports of several people being shot dead at the Project Verte warehouse on Declaration Drive in McDonough around 12:20 p.m.

Officers who arrived at the scene found three people shot dead. One of them was treated and released on the spot. Two were taken to hospital. Their identities and conditions have not been revealed.

Police said the scene had been contained and there was no threat to public safety at this time. Police say one person was arrested at the scene. This person has not been identified.

Police did not say what led to the shooting or whether it happened inside or outside the building.

Several crews brought you a live preview of the tense situation as it unfolded from Channel 2 Action News at 4 p.m.

NewsChopper 2 was above the scene, where there were several ambulances and law enforcement vehicles and at least one car was surrounded by crime scene tape. The Georgia State Patrol said it is assisting Henry County Police with the investigation.

At one point, officers appeared to search vehicles outside.

Warehouse worker Dicey Beckham described the chaos as gunshots rang out Channel 2’s Audrey Washington.

“Everyone was getting ready to take a lunch break and someone ran through the place and said ‘active shooter,'” Beckham said. “And everyone ran off.”

Beckham said people were crying and screaming, trying to make sure relatives who also worked at the warehouse were okay. Washington asked Beckham what was going through his mind at those times.

“Fear. Terror. Am I going to go home to my family?” Beckham said.

Another witness said she stopped for work and saw two people on the ground.

“You could see two people lying on the ground,” she said. “They said they were both shot.”

She said Henry County police were on the scene within minutes.

“There were 20 or 30 policemen with AKs pointed at us and they were like, ‘Come out with your hands up!’ she says.

Employees were told to go home and return to work the next day.

Project Verte is based in Sandy Springs and is an e-commerce distributor. The Griffin warehouse has approximately 200 employees.
